Technology is the use of scientific knowledge such as techniques, skills, methods and processes for practical purposes of human life such as the manufacture of goods and services or the attainment of goals. Technology is using scientific knowledge to improve human life, economics, communications, medicine and more.

Much of the world is moving at a rapid pace overall. However, some countries are ahead of this pack. These countries help their people enjoy more efficient transportation, better healthcare, green initiatives and more.

Despite being in ruins after World War II, Japan is considered the most technologically advanced country in the world. The country has won 11 Nobel Peace Prizes in physics, seven in chemistry, and five in physiology and medicine.

The United States, home to some of the world's largest technology companies such as Google, Facebook, Apple, and Microsoft, is a global powerhouse. Silicon Valley has inspired and developed a whole generation of software engineers and technology companies, and is currently home to some of the world's largest tech companies. The United States has made significant advances in space technology, pharmaceuticals, and telecommunications. The United States also has the world's largest and most technically advanced military.

Germany is known for the most engineering in which it is home to Volkswagen, Siemens, and more. Germany has a reputation for engineering, with some of the best engineering schools in Europe producing the best engineers in the world. Research and development is strongly supported by the German government through both universities and organizations. In addition, Germany is now a world leader in medicine, military technology and infrastructure.

As the world's largest economy, China's economic growth can be attributed to its technological advancement in areas such as supercomputers, genetics, robotics, semiconductors and more. China was the first country to use gunpowder and compasses, historically technologically advanced. The country offers tax breaks to companies that set up manufacturing plants within its borders and is home to Apple, Google, Adidas and many others.
